Accomplished Young Lady

When a box arrived from Target containing our Christmas gift from Grandpa and Grammy, I have to admit, I was not that excited. I had a million things to do the weekend before Christmas, and put together a major Lego project was not one of them.

Fortunately for us, Anna June decided she would do it herself. After all, it would make a great centerpiece for the Christmas Eve Eve party, she declared. Despite the prospect taking up our kitchen table for a couple of days, she set to work.

Before I could even sit down with the thing, she had it done. Obviously, there were hours and hours involved. The fact that the kit was meant for "expert" (ages 12 and up) did not deter her. She figured it out! She had to take some breaks, and get a little advice from her dad, but in the long run, she did it herself.

Here's a picture of the finished product - Santa's Workshop.

And here's the builder (and Radar). This should have been our Christmas card photo, except Radar looks a little scared. She was so excited he sat in her lap!

They are not easy! I have never done one, myself. I am also proud of her perseverance. We did take it to Mom's and use it for the centerpiece. In fact, it's still there and we probably need to go get it. We realized we don't usually have centerpieces because there's too much food. I don't know if this is going to be a tradition or not. I also don't know if she's going to disassemble it or just put it away for next Christmas intact. We will see what is the best route. We were very proud of her and she was very proud of herself.

Radar loves AJ, but he doesn't usually like to be still with her, possibly because she's not that still. She says it happens about once a year.

She does look grown up. It has happened so fast.
