Reading Update

Anna June is one of the best readers in Kindergarten. Just this weekend, she was so engrossed in a book she was reading to herself that she had to bring it along in the car with us. That right there makes her parents proud.

I found this little thing around the house. It was from the Summer Reading program at our library in 2011, when AJ wasn't reading yet at only age 3. We got a sticker in the summer reading program for every 5 books we read to her. That summer, we did alright - we made it to 10 stickers. This past summer, we only counted the books she read aloud to me, and that number was much lower. I am sure that will be better this year.

We love to read to her, but we love it more that she can read to herself.

To be raised to be a reader: One of the best gifts you can give to a child.

Thanks. It's pretty easy for us since we're both always reading, but it is harder to make her read or just let her read.
